Starting a Business: The Ugly Truth

Max Jacobs

“Whatever results you’re getting, be they rich or poor, good or bad, positive or negative, always remember that your outer world is a reflection of your inner world. If things aren’t going well in your outer life, it’s because things aren’t going well in your inner life. It’s that simple.”

Do your dreams involve going out and doing your own thing? Maybe being your own boss? Or starting a passion project on the side while continuing to work your day job? If yes, you need to read the ugly truth about starting a business.

But first, take a moment to examine your life. Take an honest look at exactly what is happening in your life right now. Start with the seven questions below. The more time you spend thinking about each question, the more you will get out of this exercise.

  1. Are you struggling with money?
  2. Does your life lack excitement?
  3. Do you feel insignificant?
  4. How are your relationships with friends, family or your partner?
  5. Do you feel like your personal development and growth has stagnated?
  6. Do you feel like you could be contributing more but aren’t?
  7. What else is happening in your life? Good or bad.

If you truly made an effort to dig deep into your thoughts and emotions after asking yourself the above questions, then keep reading. If you didn’t, go back and ask yourself each of the seven questions again. Otherwise get out of my blog.

Now, prepare yourself. I’m going to be brutally honest with you…

The Ugly Truth About Starting A Business

Everything in your life; your poor health, wealth and your shitty relationships and everything leading up until this moment is because of you. That’s just the ugly truth. You cannot blame anyone else. You cannot justify why things have happened the way they have. And no amount of complaining is going to help you.

And this is all especially true when it comes to starting a business. Always remember that you create your circumstances. Without this mindset, you are doomed to fail.

You could say that almost everything bad that’s happened in your life is your own fault. And this can be especially true when it seems things are outside of your control… It’s easy to say, ‘I’m just really unlucky’ or ‘I was in the wrong place at the wrong time’. Where you really? What role did you really play? Of course, all the good things that have happened are a result of your actions too. But whether good or bad, it starts with the same thing…

Everything that is happening in your outer world is a reflection of your inner world. In other words, your life circumstances are directly proportional to the thoughts running through your head.

Your mindset is everything. Especially when it comes to starting a business.

Change your mindset, change your life.

It’s that simple.
